My family and I have been coming to the hill country every summer for over ten years straight. We've stayed in Utopia many times and one of the highlights of staying in Utopia is swimming by the damn at the city park. Even during drought years there is water here. For what it was it was a great place. Relatively clean facilities and good clear cool water for kids to swim in. For what it was I would have given it 4 to 5 stars based on the fact that it was only $5 (or $10 I can't remember) per vehicle.
Worst park in Texas! The water stinks like sewer and there is only one shower in the whole park. The only shower by the way was disgusting. So, basically, you pay $10 per adult to swim in poop water! Please do not waste your money, time or risk your health (specially, do not enter if you have a cut).
One star for what it is today. $10 PER PERSON PER DAY local residents exempt. You think for this much you would have a ferris wheel, water slide and top notch restrooms. Nope same restrooms, same facilities, they just added a little play area for the kids and a booth to take your money. They might as well have put a sign out that says "go away tourists". I would have been happier with that, at least that would have been honest. The kids is why I would come and I have three and my wife that's $50/per day. We used to go to the park three or four times a week when we visited Utopia. I understand it was probably underpriced before and they could use the extra money for maintenance but $10/person per day? I think that's too much for day use at least that's too much for me. I can take my family to any state park in Texas for less than that.
Anyways, my kids and I ended up stinking the truck because rinsing didn't do it and we smelled like sewer all the way to San Antonio .
Great hidden place, we loved it. make sure you take your electric pump (plugs available for fast inflating). access is 10$/person not per vehicle.
